A valid driver’s license with Latin letters is sufficient for renting a car in Iceland.
If your driver’s license does not contain Latin letters, you must also present an International Driving Permit (IDP).
Please note: All International Driving Permits must be accompanied by the original national driver’s license at pick-up.
⚠️ Important:
If your license is not categorised under the IDP system (for example, a license issued by the Hong Kong SAR government), we recommend that you obtain an International Driving Permit before driving or renting a car in Iceland.
- Minimum driver age: 20 years
- License holding requirement: Must have held a valid driver’s license for at least one year at the time of rental.
